This Privacy Policy describes how the I Know! mobile application ("App", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your personal information. By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

• Email address — provided directly or via Apple/Google Sign-In
• First name and last name — entered during profile setup
• Username — chosen by you, publicly visible on leaderboards
• Password — if you register via email (stored securely hashed; we never see your plain-text password)

1.2 Game Data

We automatically collect gameplay information to power leaderboards, badges, and statistics:

• Game scores, correct/incorrect answer counts, time spent per question
• Game mode and category selections
• Session timestamps (start, finish)
• Streak data (consecutive days played)
• Badges earned and their tiers

1.3 Profile Photo

You may optionally upload a profile photo from your camera or photo library. This image is stored on our servers and displayed on your profile and leaderboard entries. If you do not upload a photo, your initials are displayed instead.

1.4 Device Information

• Platform — iOS or Android (used for feature compatibility)
• Language/locale — used to display the App in your preferred language
• Advertising identifier (IDFA/Ad ID) — collected only with your explicit consent (see Section 4)

1.5 Purchase Information

If you make in-app purchases, transaction data (product ID, purchase date) is processed by our payment partner RevenueCat and the respective app store (Apple App Store or Google Play). We do not collect or store your credit card or payment details.

2. How We Use Your Information

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services that may process your data:

4. Advertising & Tracking

The App displays rewarded video ads only — you choose to watch an ad to earn in-game rewards. We do not show banner ads, interstitial ads, or forced advertisements.

iOS — App Tracking Transparency (ATT)

On iOS, we ask for your permission before accessing your device's advertising identifier (IDFA). If you decline, ads are served in a non-personalized manner. You can change this anytime in your device's Settings > Privacy > Tracking.

EEA Users — GDPR Consent

If you are in the European Economic Area, we display a consent form (via Google UMP SDK) before serving any ads. You may choose to accept or decline personalized advertising.

5. Data Storage & Security

• Your data is stored on Supabase servers with Row-Level Security (RLS) enabled, ensuring users can only access their own data.
• Authentication tokens are stored securely on your device using platform-native secure storage (iOS Keychain / Android EncryptedSharedPreferences).
• Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text.
• All data transmission uses HTTPS encryption.

6. Data Retention

• Account data: Retained until you delete your account.
• Game data: Retained for leaderboard history until account deletion.
• Avatar photos: Deleted when you remove them or delete your account.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your personal data — visible in your Profile screen.
• Delete your account and all associated data — available in Settings > Delete Account, or see our Account Deletion page for full instructions. This action is irreversible and removes all your data from our servers.
• Withdraw consent for ad tracking — via your device settings at any time.
• Data portability — contact us to request an export of your data.

Under GDPR, CCPA, and similar regulations, you may also have additional rights. Contact us to exercise them.

8. Children's Privacy

The App is rated 12+ and is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

9. Leaderboard & Public Information

By using the App, you acknowledge that your username, avatar, and game scores are publicly visible on leaderboards. Your email address, real name, and other account details are never displayed publicly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the App or by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.
